Product overview

UL 3266 is the UL wire style for 300 V, 125 °C appliance wiring material with cross-linked polyethylene insulation. TEBAOFLEX builds it with a low-smoke, non-halogen XLPE wall over tinned, bare or top-coated copper, in 24 solid and stranded constructions from 10 AWG to 30 AWG. Cross-linking makes the insulation a thermoset, so it keeps its shape next to hot components and under a soldering iron.

Choose UL 3266 for internal wiring of appliances and electronic equipment where circuits stay at or below 300 V and the wire runs warm, up to 125 °C continuous. The 300 V wall keeps overall diameters between 1.10 mm and 4.00 mm, which helps where many leads share a small enclosure or a dense harness, and the insulation carries VW-1 and FT2 flame ratings.

Application & Features

UL 3266 is used for internal leads in appliances and electronic equipment: wiring between circuit boards, switches, sensors and relays, leads inside power supplies, chargers and control units, and dense looms where many small conductors share one route. Several strandings are offered at 10, 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24 AWG, so the conductor can be matched to the job: finer strands for leads that are routed and flexed, solid wire for fixed leads terminated on a board or a terminal.

Within the TEBAOFLEX range, compare UL 3173 for the same 125 °C XLPE wire rated 600 V, UL 3132 for a 300 V silicone rubber wire rated 150 °C, and UL 1333 for a 300 V FEP wire rated 150 °C with tinned copper.

  • Cross-linked XLPEA thermoset wall that holds its shape near hot parts and during soldering.
  • Compact 300 V wireOverall diameters from 1.10 mm, for dense harnesses and small enclosures.
  • Low smoke, non-halogenA compound that limits smoke and corrosive gases if the equipment catches fire.
  • 24 constructionsSolid and stranded options from 10 AWG to 30 AWG in tinned, bare or top-coated copper.

Construction

UL 3266 is a single-conductor wire with two layers: a tinned, bare or top-coated copper conductor and one XLPE insulation wall.

  • Conductor: tinned, bare or top-coated copper, stranded from 105/0.254 at 10 AWG to 7/0.10 at 30 AWG, with solid options at 18, 20, 22 and 24 AWG.
  • Insulation: cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) with thermal stability and chemical resistance, in a low-smoke, non-halogen compound with VW-1 and FT2 flame ratings.
  • Wall: a heavier wall on 10 to 14 AWG and a lighter one from 16 AWG down, giving overall diameters from 4.00 mm at 10 AWG to 1.10 mm at 30 AWG.
  • Assemblies: single wires can be twisted into pairs or laid up into multi-core constructions.

FAQ

What is UL 3266 wire?

UL 3266 is a UL AWM wire style for appliance wiring material rated 300 V and 125 °C. The TEBAOFLEX version uses low-smoke, non-halogen XLPE insulation over tinned, bare or top-coated copper, in 24 solid and stranded constructions from 10 AWG to 30 AWG, for internal wiring of appliances and electronic equipment.

How is UL 3266 different from UL 3173 and UL 3287?

All three use XLPE insulation. UL 3266 is rated 300 V and 125 °C. UL 3173 keeps the 125 °C rating but is rated 600 V, and UL 3287 is rated 600 V at 105 °C. Choose UL 3266 when circuits stay at or below 300 V and the wire runs up to 125 °C.

Which 18 AWG construction should I choose?

The size table lists five 18 AWG constructions: 41/0.16, 34/0.18, 19/0.235 and 16/0.254 stranded, each 2.00 mm over the insulation, and a solid 1/1.02 wire at 1.82 mm. All show 23.20 ohm/km. More, finer strands give a more flexible lead; the solid wire suits fixed leads terminated on a board or a terminal. Tell us how the lead is terminated and whether it flexes in service.

Which conductor finish should I choose?

UL 3266 is offered with tinned, bare or top-coated copper. Tell us how the leads are terminated (soldered, crimped or welded) and where the equipment is used, and our engineers recommend the finish and confirm it on the datasheet issued with your quotation.

What should I send for a quotation?

Send the UL style, AWG size and stranding, conductor finish, insulation colour, single wire, twisted pair or multi-core, put-up length, quantity and any UL, CSA or flame-test marking requirement. Our engineers confirm the construction on the datasheet issued with your quotation.

Bare copper wire bobbins inspected before stranding at the TEBAOFLEX factory

Raw Material Inspection

Every batch of copper rod, rubber compound and reinforcing material is checked before it reaches the line.

  • Copper: conductor resistance, elongation and surface condition on incoming rod and drawn wire
  • EPR, CPE, PUR and silicone compounds: hardness, tensile strength, elongation and ageing samples from each mix
  • Suppliers and batch numbers are recorded so every drum can be traced back to its materials
