EV Charging Cable

An EV charging cable carries charging power, and usually control or data signals, between the electrical supply and an electric vehicle. TEBAOFLEX makes two kinds: flexible charging leads (H05BZ5-F, H07BZ5-F and S1BZ5-F) that are handled at every charge, and fixed supply cables that feed the charger, from single-core FG16(O)R16 for DC power links to 0.6/1 kV power cables with a Cat5e or Cat6A data element.

EV charging cables from TEBAOFLEX cover both sides of the charge point: the charging lead between the charger or socket and the vehicle, and the supply cable that feeds the charger. Charging leads are H05BZ5-F for mode 1, H07BZ5-F for modes 2 and 3 and S1BZ5-F for DC charging; supply cables are single-core FG16(O)R16 for DC power links and 0.6/1 kV power cables with a Cat5e or Cat6A data element.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about EV Charging Cable from our engineers.

01What is an EV charging cable?

An EV charging cable carries charging power, and usually control or data signals, between the electrical supply and an electric vehicle. It covers two products: the flexible charging lead between the charger or socket and the vehicle connector, which is handled at every charge, and the fixed supply cable that feeds the charger from the distribution board.

02What is the difference between H05BZ5-F, H07BZ5-F and S1BZ5-F?

All three are flexible charging leads with Class 5 copper. H05BZ5-F is a 300/500 V cable to EN 50620 for mode 1 charging from a socket-outlet. H07BZ5-F is a 450/750 V cable with a PUR-HF sheath for mode 2 and mode 3 AC charging. S1BZ5-F carries a 1.5 kV DC designation, a TPU sheath and CC/CP control cores for DC charging.

03Which standards apply to EV charging cables?

EN 50620 is the European standard for EV charging cables and IEC 62893 its international counterpart; IEC 62893-4-1 covers cables for DC charging. Each TEBAOFLEX product page names the standard its construction refers to, and the datasheet issued with your quotation confirms it for your order.

04Which cable should I use for DC fast charging?

Use S1BZ5-F for the tethered charging lead: it carries a 1.5 kV DC designation and CC/CP control cores. For the fixed DC links inside a high-power charging site, between the power cabinet and the dispensers, use single-core FG16(O)R16, rated 600/1000 V AC and a maximum of 1800 V DC, in sizes from 4 mm² to 400 mm².

05Do you supply power cables with an integrated data cable?

Yes. Four supply cables combine 0.6/1 kV power cores with a data element: the power and CAT5e cable, the SWA cable with CAT5e data, and the Cat6A cables with LSZH sheaths, unarmoured or with steel wire armour. Match Cat5e or Cat6A to the charger's communication interface and plan the screen termination.

06What should I send with an EV cable RFQ?

Send the cable role (charging lead or supply cable), the model and total length; AC or DC charging, charging mode and voltage; cores, cross-section and control or data elements; armour, sheath and bending space; ambient temperature and UV or water exposure; and the standards and test documents you need.
