UL 1199 is the UL wire style for 600 V, 200 °C single-conductor wire with PTFE insulation. TEBAOFLEX makes it with an extruded PTFE wall over stranded silver-plated copper from 28 AWG to 8 AWG, with overall diameters from 1.47 mm at 28 AWG to 5.85 mm at 8 AWG.
The 200 °C rating gives headroom where a wire runs beside heaters, lamps, power resistors or transformer windings, or inside an enclosure that heats up in service. The PTFE wall also resists chemicals, oil and gasoline, as well as ozone, UV and humidity, so one wire type can serve both the hot and the contaminated parts of a machine.

Application & Features
Selection overview
UL 1199 is used for internal wiring where temperature is the limiting factor: heating and drying equipment, lighting fixtures, industrial machines, control cabinets that run warm, and electronic assemblies with hot components. Where a design uses a 150 °C wire and the measured conductor temperature leaves too little margin, UL 1199 keeps the 600 V rating and raises the limit to 200 °C.
Within the TEBAOFLEX PTFE range, compare UL 1198 for a 600 V PTFE wire over silver-plated copper rated 150 °C, UL 1180 for a 300 V, 200 °C PTFE wire, and UL 1570 for 600 V at 250 °C with mineral-filled PTFE over nickel-plated copper.
- 200 °C PTFE insulationAn extruded PTFE wall rated from -60 °C to +200 °C for wiring close to hot components.
- Chemical and fuel resistanceExcellent resistance to chemicals, oil and gasoline.
- Silver-plated copperSilver plating protects the copper strands at the 200 °C rating.
- 600 V ratingOne wire for control and power circuits, with VW-1 and FT1 flame-test designations agreed per order.

FAQ
Selection questions
What is UL 1199 wire?
UL 1199 is a UL wire style for single-conductor wire rated 600 V and 200 °C. The TEBAOFLEX version uses extruded PTFE insulation over stranded silver-plated copper, from 28 AWG to 8 AWG, for internal wiring of equipment that runs hot or is exposed to oil, gasoline and chemicals.
Should I choose UL 1199 or UL 1198?
Both are 600 V PTFE wires over silver-plated copper. UL 1198 is rated 150 °C and UL 1199 is rated 200 °C. Choose UL 1199 when the conductor may run above 150 °C or when you want margin in a hot enclosure; for 250 °C service, see UL 1570 with mineral-filled PTFE over nickel-plated copper.
Which sizes are available?
28 AWG to 8 AWG in 15 constructions, from 28/7 with a 1.47 mm overall diameter to 8/133 with 5.85 mm. The size table lists the copper weight and total weight of each construction in kg/km.
What should I send for a quotation?

Quality Assurance
Testing at every stage in our own workshop and laboratory, from incoming copper to the packed drum.

Raw Material Inspection
Every batch of copper rod, rubber compound and reinforcing material is checked before it reaches the line.
- Copper: conductor resistance, elongation and surface condition on incoming rod and drawn wire
- EPR, CPE, PUR and silicone compounds: hardness, tensile strength, elongation and ageing samples from each mix
- Suppliers and batch numbers are recorded so every drum can be traced back to its materials

Manufacturing Process Control
Stranding, insulation extrusion, core assembly and sheathing run under recorded process parameters.
- Class 5/6 stranding with lay length and tension monitored for trailing and reeling flexibility
- Continuous-vulcanisation extrusion with wall thickness and spark tests logged on every length
- Operators sign off each stage before the cable moves to the next machine

Electrical Testing
Finished lengths go through the routine tests required by the referenced VDE, ICEA, IEC or NEK standard.
- Conductor resistance and insulation resistance on every length
- Voltage withstand (3.5 kV and higher) and partial-discharge measurement in the shielded HV laboratory
- Screen and pilot-core continuity checks for mining and reeling constructions

Mechanical and Ageing Tests
Samples from production are tested for the duty a mining, crane or submersible cable will actually see.
- Tensile strength and elongation of insulation and sheath before and after ageing
- Hot-set, ozone, oil-immersion and low-temperature bending tests
- Constant-temperature water bath for insulation resistance of submersible constructions

Flame Test and Final Inspection
Before packing, the cable is checked against the order and the flame-performance requirement of its standard.
- Single-cable vertical flame test to IEC 60332-1-2 where specified
- Metre marking, printing, drum length and appearance inspection
- Test report and packing list issued with every shipment
