MGM 109 Type 3013 is the single-armoured 1900/3300 V member of the MGM 109 armoured cable family. It has three unscreened PVC-insulated Class 2 copper cores, a PVC bedding, one layer of galvanised steel wire armour and a special PVC sheath, built to the MGM 109 specification of the Turkish Hard Coal Enterprises MGM mining cable series.
It is a fixed-installation cable for supplying machines and equipment at 3.3 kV in deep mines where explosive gases and dust may accumulate and in surface installations. It is the lighter 3.3 kV option for horizontal routes, such as roadway feeders to section transformers and surface links between the mine substation and the winder or fan house.

Application & Features
Selection overview
Not every 3.3 kV run in a mine hangs down a shaft. Surface links from the main substation to the winder house, ventilation fans and coal preparation plant, and underground feeders laid along level roadways to section transformers, carry little tensile load. On these routes a single layer of galvanised steel wire gives the crush and impact protection and the earth return path the circuit needs, without the weight and stiffness of a second layer.
Against the double-armoured Type 3023 of the same conductor size, Type 3013 is 4 to 6 mm smaller in diameter and 7 to 11% lighter, with a tighter bending radius (378 mm against 463 mm on 3×50 mm²). That makes long roadway pulls, hanger loads and drum logistics easier. Its size range, 3×50 to 3×185 mm², covers the mid-power feeders most often run at 3.3 kV.
- Lighter 3.3 kV feederSingle galvanised steel wire armour for horizontal roadway and surface runs at 1900/3300 V.
- Tighter bendingBending radius from 378 mm (3×50) to 567 mm (3×185), smaller than the double-armoured type.
- Gassy and dusty workingsSpecified for deep mines where explosive gases and dust may accumulate, and for surface plant; mine approval is quoted per order.
- Mid-power range3×50 to 3×185 mm², 168 to 382 A at 25 °C, for section transformers and large drives.

FAQ
Selection questions
What is MGM 109 Type 3013 and how does it differ from the other MGM 109 types?
Type 3013 is the 1900/3300 V, three-core, unscreened, single-armoured type in the MGM 109 armoured cable specification of the Turkish Hard Coal Enterprises MGM series. Type 3023 is the same cable with two armour layers, and Type 3123 adds a copper tape screen on each core as well. For 600/1000 V circuits see Type 1012/1013/1014 (single armour) and Type 1023/1024 (double armour).
When is single armour enough at 3.3 kV?
Single armour suits horizontal roadway runs on hangers, cable trays and surface trenches or ducts, where the cable does not carry its own weight over a long vertical drop. For shafts, steep inclines and routes exposed to heavy impact, choose the double-armoured Type 3023.
Can Type 3013 feed a moving machine?
No. It is a PVC-insulated, Class 2, wire-armoured fixed cable. It brings 3.3 kV to the section transformer or switchgear; from there flexible rubber trailing cables such as the MGM 111 and MGM 112 types in the MGM category connect the moving machines.

Quality Assurance
Testing at every stage in our own workshop and laboratory, from incoming copper to the packed drum.

Raw Material Inspection
Every batch of copper rod, rubber compound and reinforcing material is checked before it reaches the line.
- Copper: conductor resistance, elongation and surface condition on incoming rod and drawn wire
- EPR, CPE, PUR and silicone compounds: hardness, tensile strength, elongation and ageing samples from each mix
- Suppliers and batch numbers are recorded so every drum can be traced back to its materials

Manufacturing Process Control
Stranding, insulation extrusion, core assembly and sheathing run under recorded process parameters.
- Class 5/6 stranding with lay length and tension monitored for trailing and reeling flexibility
- Continuous-vulcanisation extrusion with wall thickness and spark tests logged on every length
- Operators sign off each stage before the cable moves to the next machine

Electrical Testing
Finished lengths go through the routine tests required by the referenced VDE, ICEA, IEC or NEK standard.
- Conductor resistance and insulation resistance on every length
- Voltage withstand (3.5 kV and higher) and partial-discharge measurement in the shielded HV laboratory
- Screen and pilot-core continuity checks for mining and reeling constructions

Mechanical and Ageing Tests
Samples from production are tested for the duty a mining, crane or submersible cable will actually see.
- Tensile strength and elongation of insulation and sheath before and after ageing
- Hot-set, ozone, oil-immersion and low-temperature bending tests
- Constant-temperature water bath for insulation resistance of submersible constructions

Flame Test and Final Inspection
Before packing, the cable is checked against the order and the flame-performance requirement of its standard.
- Single-cable vertical flame test to IEC 60332-1-2 where specified
- Metre marking, printing, drum length and appearance inspection
- Test report and packing list issued with every shipment
