3GRDGÖU Basket Cable for Container-Crane Selection
3GRDGÖU basket cable connects container-crane controls through a vertical route that collects cable in a gravity-fed basket. Its selection depends on how the cable enters the basket, carries suspended weight and returns to an orderly coil during each hoisting cycle. A matching core count is only the starting point.
TEBAOFLEX accepts replacement inquiries referencing UTVFLEX-BASKET and BASKETHEAVYFLEX. These names identify separate selection requirements: 0.6/1 kV for the UTVFLEX-BASKET option and 300/500 V for the BASKETHEAVYFLEX option. Choose the rating required by the equipment before matching dimensions. Brand names identify the cable being compared; the quoted alternative is supplied under TEBAOFLEX.
- Best-fit route: vertical container-crane service with a purpose-designed collector basket and a controlled cable entry path.
- Replacement check: match rated voltage, bundle arrangement, protective-earth identification, outside diameter and the approved support termination.
- Installation check: verify basket geometry and winding direction before commissioning; an unsuitable collection path can damage a correctly sized cable.
- Different movement: a motorized drum, festoon trolley or cable carrier needs a cable selected for that movement.
The technical sections separate the two voltage options and give the nominal dimensions for eight configurations. For the wider equipment family, explore our port crane cables.
Construction
The 3GRDGÖU arrangement uses flexible tinned copper cores around a central aramid support. Six-core bundles organize the large control-core count for basket movement.

| Element | Construction | Selection value |
|---|---|---|
| Conductors | Tinned copper; IEC 60228 Class 5 | Check the complete conductor and terminal schedule. |
| Insulation | EPR rubber | Provides individual core insulation while allowing the bundled construction to flex. |
| Bundle arrangement | Six cores per bundle; 6, 7, 8 or 9 bundles | 36, 42, 48 or 54 total cores; do not confuse bundle count with core count. |
| Central support | Aramid yarn; minimum 10 kN support-element strength for the 0.6/1 kV option | Use an approved support termination; this is separate from the finished cable working pull. |
| 300/500 V core identification | Black insulation with white printed numbers and one green/yellow core | Match numbering and protective-earth requirements to the equipment wiring. |
| 300/500 V assembly | Short-lay six-core bundles with textile separator tapes | Confirm the bundle layout when matching an existing cable. |
| Outer sheath | Black special rubber; CSP for the 300/500 V option and CPS for the 0.6/1 kV option | Specify the required compound and resistance documentation during quotation. |
What carries the suspended load?
The central support and its termination are part of the load path. Confirm the approved anchoring arrangement so the control cores and electrical terminals do not become the suspension support. A 10 kN yarn strength must not be treated as a 10 kN operating tension for the completed cable.
Applications
Select this basket spreader cable for vertical control connections on container cranes where the cable collects by gravity in a dedicated basket.

- Container-crane spreaders: a suspended control route that repeatedly feeds cable into a collector basket.
- Outdoor port service: black rubber sheaths selected for UV, lubricant and weather exposure.
- High-speed collection: running speed up to 160 m/min, subject to the approved cable and basket arrangement.
Check the basket before selecting a replacement
For the UTVFLEX-BASKET selection, install the cable counter-clockwise in the basket and keep the route free of torsion. Confirm the winding direction for the chosen assembly before installation. Check basket diameter, guide clearance, bend geometry, suspended length and the support anchoring method together.
A matching diameter alone does not establish interchangeability. Send the existing cable print, core numbering and equipment drawing when requesting an alternative.
When the movement system is different
For a driven winding drum, compare NSHTÖU-J crane reeling cable. For cable trolleys, review CUR-2PNCT/3PNCT festoon cable. A 600 V PNCT crane cable is another installation-specific comparison. Each requires its own movement and rating check.

Keep working pull and support strength separate
The configuration table lists 4,000 N; the 0.6/1 kV support element has a minimum strength of 10 kN. Before ordering, ask our engineers to confirm permissible working pull for the complete cable, copper area and termination. Do not use support-yarn strength to size the operating load.
Confirm bending and the complete duty cycle
Confirm the minimum bend radius, basket diameter, hanging length, acceleration and cable-entry guide dimensions for the selected construction. Current rating also depends on the installation and grouped cores. Confirm the ambient upper limit for the 0.6/1 kV option; a 90 °C conductor rating is not an ambient-temperature rating.
Standards
Use the following conductor, test and installation references to define the required 3GRDGÖU basket cable documentation. Match each reference to the selected voltage option.
| Reference | Voltage option | Role |
|---|---|---|
| IEC 60228 Class 5 | 300/500 V and 0.6/1 kV | Flexible conductor classification. |
| IEC 60332-1 | 300/500 V | Flame-retardancy test reference. |
| EN 50265-2-1 | 300/500 V | Legacy single-cable flame-test reference. |
| RoHS | 300/500 V | Material restriction reference. |
| IEC 60811-404 | 0.6/1 kV | Oil-resistance test reference. |
| VDE 0298 Part 3 | 0.6/1 kV | Bending-radius reference. |
| VDE 0298 Part 4 | 0.6/1 kV | Current-rating reference. |
For quotation, specify the required test documents, voltage designation, conductor schedule and sheath compound. Before ordering, ask our engineers to confirm the AC voltage-test requirement for the chosen assembly.

Quality Assurance
Testing at every stage in our own workshop and laboratory, from incoming copper to the packed drum.

Raw Material Inspection
Every batch of copper rod, rubber compound and reinforcing material is checked before it reaches the line.
- Copper: conductor resistance, elongation and surface condition on incoming rod and drawn wire
- EPR, CPE, PUR and silicone compounds: hardness, tensile strength, elongation and ageing samples from each mix
- Suppliers and batch numbers are recorded so every drum can be traced back to its materials

Manufacturing Process Control
Stranding, insulation extrusion, core assembly and sheathing run under recorded process parameters.
- Class 5/6 stranding with lay length and tension monitored for trailing and reeling flexibility
- Continuous-vulcanisation extrusion with wall thickness and spark tests logged on every length
- Operators sign off each stage before the cable moves to the next machine

Electrical Testing
Finished lengths go through the routine tests required by the referenced VDE, ICEA, IEC or NEK standard.
- Conductor resistance and insulation resistance on every length
- Voltage withstand (3.5 kV and higher) and partial-discharge measurement in the shielded HV laboratory
- Screen and pilot-core continuity checks for mining and reeling constructions

Mechanical and Ageing Tests
Samples from production are tested for the duty a mining, crane or submersible cable will actually see.
- Tensile strength and elongation of insulation and sheath before and after ageing
- Hot-set, ozone, oil-immersion and low-temperature bending tests
- Constant-temperature water bath for insulation resistance of submersible constructions

Flame Test and Final Inspection
Before packing, the cable is checked against the order and the flame-performance requirement of its standard.
- Single-cable vertical flame test to IEC 60332-1-2 where specified
- Metre marking, printing, drum length and appearance inspection
- Test report and packing list issued with every shipment
