Product overview

UL 1570 is the UL wire style for 600 V, 250 °C single-conductor wire. TEBAOFLEX builds it with an extruded, mineral-filled PTFE insulation over stranded nickel-plated copper, in sizes from 8 AWG to 24 AWG. The mineral filler gives the PTFE wall a harder surface, so the wire resists abrasion where it is pulled past edges, clamps and hardware inside equipment.

Choose UL 1570 for wiring that runs close to heat sources, is exposed to chemical agents or sees dielectric stress, and wherever older asbestos or glass-braided leads are being replaced. The extruded wall is thinner and smoother than a braided insulation, which makes the wire easier to route and to strip cleanly.

Application & Features

UL 1570 is used for leads and internal wiring in equipment that runs hot or sees chemical agents: heating and heat-treatment equipment, ovens and dryers, high-temperature lighting, and electronic assemblies where the insulation sees high dielectric stress. Where an older design used asbestos or glass-braided leads, the extruded mineral-filled PTFE wall gives the same heat class with a thinner, cleaner wire.

Within the TEBAOFLEX PTFE range, compare UL 1659 for a 600 V, 250 °C lead wire with plain PTFE insulation, UL 1815 for 300 V appliance and electronic wiring at 250 °C, and UL 1199 where a 200 °C, 600 V rating is enough.

  • Mineral-filled PTFEA harder extruded wall that resists abrasion against edges, clamps and hardware.
  • 250 °C ratingFor wiring next to heaters, burners and other hot components.
  • Nickel-plated copperPlating that protects the strands at high temperature; a high-strength alloy is optional.
  • Chemical resistancePTFE insulation for wiring exposed to chemical agents and dielectric stress.

Construction

UL 1570 is a single-conductor wire with two layers: a stranded nickel-plated copper conductor and one extruded mineral-filled PTFE wall.

  • Conductor: stranded nickel-plated copper; the plating protects the copper at 250 °C, and a nickel-plated high-strength copper alloy is available for wire that must resist breakage.
  • Insulation: extruded PTFE with a mineral filler, which raises abrasion resistance compared with a plain PTFE wall.
  • Identification: surface printing as required by UL or CSA, in 10 standard insulation colours.
  • Electronic-use strandings: the alternative strandings marked * (37/26, 19/25, 19/27 and 19/29) are for electronic use only.

FAQ

What is UL 1570 wire?

UL 1570 is a UL wire style for single-conductor wire rated 600 V and 250 °C. The TEBAOFLEX version uses extruded mineral-filled PTFE insulation over nickel-plated stranded copper, from 8 AWG to 24 AWG, for wiring exposed to heat, chemical agents and abrasion.

How is UL 1570 different from UL 1659 and UL 1815?

All three are 250 °C PTFE wires. UL 1570 adds a mineral filler to the PTFE for abrasion resistance and is rated 600 V. UL 1659 is a 600 V lead wire with plain PTFE insulation for electronic and appliance use, and UL 1815 is a 300 V appliance and electronic wire with silver-plated or nickel-plated copper.

Why is the conductor nickel-plated?

At a 250 °C rating, nickel plating protects the copper strands where tin plating is not used. For leads that see vibration or repeated flexing, a nickel-plated high-strength copper alloy conductor is available as an option.

What does 2,500 V peak for electronic use mean?

The 600 V rating applies to power wiring. The strandings marked * in the size table are limited to electronic use, where the insulation may see up to 2,500 V peak. Tell us the voltage your circuit sees when you request a quotation.
