Product overview

BAULIFT is a hybrid power and control cable for vertical construction hoists, the rack-and-pinion lifts that carry workers and material up a building under construction. One cable brings the 0.6/1 kV supply to the hoist drive and carries the 300/500 V control circuits for landing calls, limit switches and door interlocks, so the car needs only one moving connection to the ground.

The range is built in three versions for the three common ways of feeding a hoist car: B101 as a drag cable drawn from a drum through the load platform, B102 as a carriage cable fed at the center of the mast for taller towers, and B103 for spring-loaded drums on high buildings. All three share extra-fine bare copper conductors and a black, cold-flexible sheath that resists UV on open sites.

Application & Features

Construction hoists run on a mast tied to the building, and the car has to be fed with power and control signals over the full travel. On lower towers, up to about 150 m, the cable is drawn up from a drum through the load platform (B101) or stored in a cable basket. On taller buildings the free-hanging weight becomes too much, so the cable runs on a cable trolley or carriage at the center of the tower (B102), or is reeled on a spring-loaded drum (B103). Separate copper screening of the control cores is available where the hoist control is sensitive to interference from the drive.

For permanent passenger and freight elevators in finished buildings, see our elevator traveling cables, such as the 4xCAT6 traveling cable for cars that also need network links.

  • Cold-flexible sheathFlexes from -10 °C and resists UV on open construction sites.
  • Optional screeningSeparate copper screen over the control cores where the hoist control needs it.

Selection note: Choose the version by how the hoist car is fed: B101 for drag or basket feeds up to about 150 m, B102 for carriage feeds on taller towers, B103 for spring-loaded drums. Before ordering, ask our engineers to confirm the permissible tensile load and free-hanging length for your lift height, and the core layout of your hoist control.

Construction

BAULIFT is a composite cable: power cores and numbered control cores are stranded together under one flexible outer sheath, with the support element chosen for the feed system.

  • Conductors: bare copper, extra-fine strands for high flexibility on drums and in baskets.
  • Power cores: rated 0.6/1 kV for the hoist drive supply, with a protective earth core in the G constructions.
  • Control cores: rated 300/500 V with continuous white numbering; separate copper screening is available.
  • Support: B101 is drawn as a drag cable; B102 carries a support braid for carriage feeds; B103 is wound on a spring-loaded drum.
  • Outer sheath: black, cold-flexible plastic sheath, UV resistant; the B102 carriage version uses a PUR sheath that resists wear, oil, hydrolysis and microbes.

FAQ

What is a construction hoist cable?

It is the flexible cable that feeds a construction hoist car with power and control signals as the car travels up and down the mast. BAULIFT combines 0.6/1 kV power cores and 300/500 V numbered control cores in one cable, so the car needs only one moving connection.

What is the difference between B101, B102 and B103?

They are built for different feed systems. B101 is a drag cable drawn from a drum through the load platform and is used up to about 150 m lift height. B102 is a carriage version fed at the center of the tower for greater heights. B103 is wound on a spring-loaded drum for hoists on high buildings.

Can the cable be used in cold weather?

Yes. The sheath is a cold-flexible compound rated for flexing from -10 °C to +80 °C, and it resists UV on open sites. For colder sites, tell us the lowest working temperature when you request a quotation.

Is a screened version available?

Yes. The control cores can be supplied with a separate copper screen where the hoist control needs protection from interference from the drive.

What should I send for a quotation?

Send the hoist type and feed system (drag, basket, carriage or spring drum), lift height, number and size of power and control cores, screening requirement, lowest site temperature and length. Our engineers confirm the construction on the datasheet issued with your quotation.

Quality Assurance

Testing at every stage in our own workshop and laboratory, from incoming copper to the packed drum.

Bare copper wire bobbins inspected before stranding at the TEBAOFLEX factory

Raw Material Inspection

Every batch of copper rod, rubber compound and reinforcing material is checked before it reaches the line.

  • Copper: conductor resistance, elongation and surface condition on incoming rod and drawn wire
  • EPR, CPE, PUR and silicone compounds: hardness, tensile strength, elongation and ageing samples from each mix
  • Suppliers and batch numbers are recorded so every drum can be traced back to its materials
