YnOGY Mining Cable for Equipment Power Supply
YnOGY mining cable is a 0.6/1 kV PVC-insulated and PVC-sheathed cable for supplying stationary and portable electrical equipment in underground, open-pit and strip mines where no explosion hazard exists. Flexible Class 5 copper conductors are combined with a protective conductor, with control cores included in selected configurations.
Start selection with the equipment wiring schedule. A four-core construction contains three power conductors and one protective conductor. Five-core and seven-core arrangements add one or three control conductors respectively. These layouts serve different connection requirements, so matching only the power-conductor cross-section will not identify the complete cable.
- Check the whole designation: specify power, protective and control conductor sizes together.
- Match the installation: fixed and movable routes have different minimum bending requirements. Check the route and termination clearances before choosing a diameter.
- Choose the correct construction: YnOGY is the unscreened member of this family; a requirement for a screen or armor calls for a separate construction review.
- Confirm the operating location: this selection is for mining areas without an explosion hazard.
The Specifications section includes the available core layouts, maximum outside diameters, cable weights and reference electrical data. Use these together when comparing a replacement cable. Explore the wider mining cable range for other installation duties, or download the YnOGY datasheet.
Construction
The YnOGY design combines flexible copper conductors, PVC insulation and an inner and outer PVC sheath. The protective conductor has a distinctive corrugated black covering for identification within the assembly.

| Component | YnOGY construction | Selection note |
|---|---|---|
| Conductors | Copper, Class 5 to PN-EN 60228 | Choose the complete power, protective and control conductor schedule. |
| Power-core insulation | PVC; natural, red and blue identification | Three power conductors in each listed configuration. |
| Protective conductor | Black corrugated covering | Its cross-section can differ from the power conductors; use the exact configuration. |
| Control cores | One core: brown. Three cores: natural, red and blue. | Included in five- and seven-core constructions respectively. |
| Assembly | Conductors laid around a central filler | The four-core cross-section illustrates one configuration. |
| Inner sheath | PVC | Forms the inner sheath around the assembled cores. |
| Outer sheath | Special flame-retardant PVC | Confirm the required sheath color and marking in the order. |
Select the required sheath color
The product view shows a black sheath. Confirm the required color, including a yellow-sheath requirement, together with the cable marking before ordering.
Keep screened variants separate
Specify YnOGY when an unscreened construction is required. If the equipment specification calls for a screen, send its type and connection requirements with the quotation request; a similar model name or matching power-core size does not establish an equivalent construction.
Applications
Use YnOGY for the electrical supply of stationary and portable equipment in underground, open-pit and strip mines where no explosion hazard exists. Select the core arrangement to match the equipment power, protective and control circuits.

- Stationary equipment connections: plan the supported cable route, gland entry and fixed bends together.
- Portable equipment supply: allow for the larger movable-installation bend radius and protect the route from mechanical damage.
- Combined power and control: choose the five- or seven-core arrangement only when its control-core count and sizes match the equipment wiring.
Define the movement before specifying the cable
Portable equipment service does not by itself define a continuous reeling or repeated-torsion duty. Before ordering, ask our engineers to confirm the cable selection for the actual movement, unsupported length, handling method and termination arrangement.
Check the mine environment
Confirm the location's explosion-hazard classification before selection. For routes exposed to oil, chemicals, standing water or significant mechanical loading, include those conditions in the technical inquiry so the required sheath and protection can be reviewed.
Different installation requirements
For a 0.6/1 kV armored construction, compare MGM 109 Type 1012/1013/1014 mining cable. For a medium-voltage tunnel feeder, review (N)3GHSSYCY tunnel cable. These serve different specifications and require their own voltage, construction and installation checks.
Specifications
Use the complete YnOGY designation to select the core arrangement. Outside diameter is stated as a maximum; D in the bend-radius requirement means the finished cable outside diameter.

Quality Assurance
Testing at every stage in our own workshop and laboratory, from incoming copper to the packed drum.

Raw Material Inspection
Every batch of copper rod, rubber compound and reinforcing material is checked before it reaches the line.
- Copper: conductor resistance, elongation and surface condition on incoming rod and drawn wire
- EPR, CPE, PUR and silicone compounds: hardness, tensile strength, elongation and ageing samples from each mix
- Suppliers and batch numbers are recorded so every drum can be traced back to its materials

Manufacturing Process Control
Stranding, insulation extrusion, core assembly and sheathing run under recorded process parameters.
- Class 5/6 stranding with lay length and tension monitored for trailing and reeling flexibility
- Continuous-vulcanisation extrusion with wall thickness and spark tests logged on every length
- Operators sign off each stage before the cable moves to the next machine

Electrical Testing
Finished lengths go through the routine tests required by the referenced VDE, ICEA, IEC or NEK standard.
- Conductor resistance and insulation resistance on every length
- Voltage withstand (3.5 kV and higher) and partial-discharge measurement in the shielded HV laboratory
- Screen and pilot-core continuity checks for mining and reeling constructions

Mechanical and Ageing Tests
Samples from production are tested for the duty a mining, crane or submersible cable will actually see.
- Tensile strength and elongation of insulation and sheath before and after ageing
- Hot-set, ozone, oil-immersion and low-temperature bending tests
- Constant-temperature water bath for insulation resistance of submersible constructions

Flame Test and Final Inspection
Before packing, the cable is checked against the order and the flame-performance requirement of its standard.
- Single-cable vertical flame test to IEC 60332-1-2 where specified
- Metre marking, printing, drum length and appearance inspection
- Test report and packing list issued with every shipment
