5kV~15kV Type MP-GC 3C Mining Power Feeder Cable Feature and Application
Type MP-GC mining power feeder cable is for use in high voltage connections between power distribution systems in mines, mine tunnels, shafts and mine load centers systems that require an internal ground check conductor, for added safety. It is suitable for installation in ducts, troughs, tray or direct burial in non-flexing applications. The cable is for applications up to 15,000 volts and temperatures from -20° to +90°C.
Type MP-GC is a premium rubber-sheathed power cable specially engineered for underground mining operations and mobile mining equipment. Featuring high-grade rubber insulation and outer sheath, this cable possesses exceptional resistance to abrasion, oil, grease, chemicals, moisture and low temperature. It maintains excellent flexibility even under continuous dragging, twisting and repeated bending during field operation.

Conductor: stranded annealed copper enveloped in a strand shield.
Insulation: Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR)
Assembly: semi-conducting tape and a metallic tape shield with
Grounding Check conductors: consisting of two bare grounds and one 8-gauge insulated ground check that are cabled together in the interstices of the power conductors and fillers are added to make round.a single faced rubber filled tape is applied overlapped.
Sheath: Jacket is Chlorinated Polyethylene (CPE).
Standards: Conforms to ICEA S-66-524 (NEMA WC8).
Application: Connection between units of mine distribution system not exceeding the rated voltage when installed in duct, conduit or open air. For direct burial in wet and dry locations. Recommended maximum continuous conductor temperature is 90°C

Differences between Type MP-GC EPR/CPE and Type MP-GC XPE/PVC
1)Electrical Performance
- EPR/CPE:
- EPR has excellent dielectric strength, lower dielectric loss, better for high voltage (8–15 kV) long‑term stability.
- More stable at high temperature, less prone to partial discharge.
- XLPE/PVC:
- XLPE also has good insulation, but higher dielectric loss than EPR.
- Suitable for 5–15 kV, but less ideal for long‑term high‑voltage, high‑load operation.
2)Mechanical & Environmental Resistance
- EPR/CPE (Heavy‑Duty)
- CPE jacket: superior abrasion, oil, chemical, acid/alkali resistance.
- Excellent flexibility, low‑temperature resistance (‑20°C).
- High resistance to tear, crush, impact in heavy mining conditions.
- Thermoset,does not melt at 90°C,long service life.
- XLPE/PVC (Standard‑Duty)
- PVC jacket:good abrasion and oil resistance, but inferior to CPE.
- Poor low‑temperature flexibility,becomes stiff/brittle below 0°C.
- Lower resistance to chemicals, oils, and heavy mechanical stress.
- Thermoplastic softens at high temperature,easier to deform under heavy load.
